Tuesday Tangents + 500 Mile Goal

Happy Tuesday!

Wow–life has kept me busy! It has been awhile since I last blogged, so I figured I would do an update on life. Prepare yourself for some randomness! Also, if you are subscribed to my blog and just received an e-mail titled “pictures,” I apologize… I accidentally hit ‘submit’ a little too soon… πŸ˜‰

Father’s Day

I LOVE holidays… and celebrating them. It was always a huge thing in my family, growing up, so I love carrying on that tradition. Indian food was for lunch, then we went to the mall and just enjoyed the day. All of us also accidentally wore blue… but it was a great coincidence, because that’s Kenneth’s favorite color! πŸ™‚

We also got Kenneth a hammock. He has been wanting one for awhile, so he loved it!

5K PR + 3 Overall Female + 1st in Age Group

Yes, that ALL happened just over a week ago at the Equality Run in OKC! I’ll do a race recap on that special moment soon, but I will admit, I surprised myself… especially after going into that race with the intent of just seeing how fast I could run!

New Hair

Let me just start by saying that my hair stylist is THE best. For real, though… she works miracles! My hair was so damaged/blah before, and she was able to make it all one color and really fix it up. I LOVE it! Follow her on Instagram to see all of the amazing work she has done!

Cycling

I picked up a new hobby–cycling! Kenneth loves cycling, so it wasn’t too hard to just jump right into it. It is a lot of fun, and I love riding with Geni! I’m also up to 146 miles so far this year!

The only downfall is that crashing really hurts… I got in my first wreck exactly a week ago. I’m still pretty banged up, but plan to get back out there soon!

Running

Running really slowed down for me after the marathon. I was just really mentally and physically exhausted. It was really hard for me to take a break, but I am so thankful that I did. Catching up on doing things that I haven’t had time for in months (sleeping in, cycling, staying up late) was great!

I’ve really started to get back into it lately, though, and it has been nice. I love early runs with Alicia and Geni. I’m starting to feel normal again!

Sports Bra Squad

There’s a runner I follow on Instagram, Kelly Roberts, that formed the Sports Bra Squad. If you go on Instagram and search for #sportsbrasquad, you’ll see what I’m talking about. There was a Global Sports Bra Squad day on Saturday, June 24th.

I was hesitant, to be honest… but the more I think about it, the more crazy I thought I was being. I mean, I wear a swimsuit to the pool, and that reveals way more than a sports bra and shorts. So, I did it, and it was so freeing!

It’s inspiring, really, for a fellow runner to instill such confidence in so many women!

Running with Kai

I honestly don’t do this enough. Kai is our [crazy] Goldendoodle. She has so much energy, and loves running, so I should probably start using that to my advantage more often!

500 Mile Running Goal

I decided at the beginning of the year that I’d LOVE to try to run 1,000 miles this year. Well, I’m currently at 472 miles, so my goal is to try to reach 500 miles before I leave for my trip next weekend, and before I start training for the NYC Marathon!

I’m determined, and I WILL do it! πŸ™‚

Eating Healthy

Man, I’m not going to sugar-coat this (no pun intended… LOL), but eating healthy has been a struggle for me. The only thing really saving me at the moment are my breakfasts.

I’ve been making Chia Seed Pudding for breakfast for the past month. I’ll do a blog post on this soon, too, but my goodness… it’s very healthy and very delicious!

I also ate 2 cups of mango chunks after my run this morning. The cinnamon rolls sounded amazing, but I am trying to be better!

10 Year Anniversary Trip

This isn’t a joke… Kenneth and I are leaving in less than 2 weeks for a 10 day anniversary trip for our 10 year anniversary! I’m SO excited!!!

Hope you enjoyed my tangents and catching up on my life! The plan is to throw in a few posts before we leave for our trip, and then really blog a lot during my NYC training.

  1. I love the runners tan lines haha I just started riding my bike again yesterday after taking a long break. I was actually thinking about that when I was riding that crap It would hurt if I fell off! Glad you are OK.

    How do you like the Shalane Flanagan cookbook? I’ve been thinking about getting it.

    1. LOL Oh, I’m all too familiar… It hurt pretty bad, but I’m good! Thank you πŸ™‚

      I LOVE that book. I actually need to start using more of her recipes. I definitely recommend it!
